Movie Mondays – Coco (2017)

Disney/Pixar Coco

Ever since the first teaser trailer was announced, I’ve been excited for the release of the new Disney/Pixar animated feature film. Coco is the next Disney/Pixar animated film to come to theaters and Pixars’ Animation Studios 19th animated feature film. It will follow the adventures of Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) who despite his families ban on music dreams of becoming a great musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt). He mysteriously ends up in the Land of the Dead and with the help of trickster Hector (voice of Gael García Bernal) and his ancestors he hopes to return to the land of the living.

Coco was announced back on April 24, 2012 at CinemaCon as The Untitled Pixar Movie About Día de los Muertos. The official statement read, “From director Lee Unkrich and producer Darla K. Anderson, the filmmaking team behind the Academy Award-winning Toy Story 3, comes a wholly original Pixar Animation Studios film that delves into the vibrant holiday of Día de los Muertos.” The first teaser trailer was released on March 15, 2017 –

The official trailer for Coco was release on June 7, 2017 –

A second official trailer was released on September 13, 2017 –

Coco is scheduled to be released in the United States and Canada on November 22, 2017 and United Kingdom theaters on January 19, 2018. It will be released during the American Thanksgiving weekend and three weeks after the Day of the Dead celebration. Coco will be the second Disney/Pixar film this year following Cars 3. It is the second time they have released two films in the same year, with Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur being released in 2015. The film will be accompanied in theaters by Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Olaf’s Frozen Adventure.

So are you excited to see Coco? Leave a comment and tell me why or why not.
